PWM % control by CANBUS

Post by forrestgraeme » Tue Oct 24, 2017 6:01 pm

Afternoon

So, quick intro, just bought a PMU without logging. I've been using a EMU first gen for three years now, and find it perfect for my needs.
I'm about to build a custom loom with Race Technology DASH2PRO, EMU first gen & a PMU, all connected via CANBUS on a custom MILSPEC loom.
I looks like quite a steep learning curve, but I'm looking forward to the challenge, good planning seems the most important part.

Anyway , is it possible to alter the PWM % of the fuel pumps using the status of the CAN RPM channel?

For example, under 3000 RPM 50 % PW, above 3000 100 % PW.

Also, before completing the loom, I want to do some testing to become familiar with the software, do you have part no for extra sockets on PMU interface?

Thanks

Graeme

Hi,

There are two possibilities to control PWM % in PMU.

1. PWM % can be controlled by formula. It works with any PMU firmware.

For your example:
use logical Function: f_above = c_ecu_rpm > 3000
use integer Number to calculate: n_dc = 50 + 50*f_above

And attach "n_dc" channel to 'DC Control' of some 25 Amp output.

2. In upcoming PMU firmware 0.32 there are support for 2D and 3D tables.
There are 10 such user tables in the software.
Each table can have variable number of rows and columns. X and Y axis could be any available channel.
Each table has its own channel, that holds the calculated value for current Axis X / Axis Y. Such channel can be connected to the 'DC Control' of the output.

We are doing final testing of this new software.

PS: I'm not sure what are you asking for in the last question...

Thanks for the reply, I’m going to start building test rig this weekend to start testing. What I meant by the final question is that I want to buy some spare sockets for the PMU plug. I’m not sure the brand or size, eg MOLEX 14-20AWG crimp socket. It’s for the making a test loom and to allow for my poor crimping skills☺️

New version of PMU software with support for PWM tables has been published.
